I know my brother thinks this could be remedied by getting those weather covers, but I can't sanction taking half of our entire business' equipment out into the weather- if it's bad weather!
Weather covers are expensive. But I take my camera out anyway, you'd be surprised how hardy they are. If it's very very small rain, I don't cover it up, but if there's fatter drops, I put the camera in a plastic bag, cut a hole in front for the lens, and hold everything together with rubber bands, or duct tape the front to my lens hood. You should try it!
